Peterborough Sculpture Collection is an exciting and significant collection of 25 scheduled monuments across the city which can all be vewied free of charge! The main sculpture park is at Thorpe Meadows by the rowing lake. It includes important works by artists such as Jane Ackroyd, Miles Davis, Bob Dawson, John Foster, and Sokari Douglas Camp.
Peterborough's entire collection of 25 sculptures are in place around Ferry Meadows, the city centre, and even our busy parkways by Antony Gormley, Robert Erskine, and Renn & Thacker. You can read more about the collection here >>
The sculpture collection was originally assembled by the Peterborough Development Corporation between 1978 and 1988. With a rapidly growing population in the 70's and 80's, the Corporation established Nene Park and Ferry Meadows Country Park to provide plenty of green space for the city's residents.
Peterborough Development Corporation bought and commissioned new artworks by some of the best British sculptors working at the time. More recently, sculptures by Jeni Cairns, Lee Mawby and Jason Thomson have been commissioned by Nene Park Trust to join the collection.
