On any day of the year, the Embankment is a lovely place to sit and unwind. Plus, as it's less that five minutes walk from the city centre, many people take time out of a busy day to visit, have their lunch and return to work feeling quite refreshed!
Many events are held here throughout the year, including the Peterborough Festival, Peterborough Beer Festival, river festivals, open air concerts and circuses. The Embankment has overnight mooring facilities and public conveniences, and, in the summer months, the water's edge can be an array of colours with many boat owners deciding to spend the day in Peterborough.
There is ample parking in the area for those who wish to enjoy a casual walk along the willow lined footpath and cyclists can follow the Green Wheel route towards Whittlesey or Flag Fen. The river is also popular with anglers.
No charge for the Embankment but some events will have an entrance charge.
