Laughing Tree Theatre brings you a stripped back version of Christopher Marlowe’s enduring tale of sin and corruption brought about by lust for power.
Doctor Faustus is a brilliant, arrogant scholar, whose thirst for knowledge and influence leads him to summon the demon Mephistopheles, demanding from him power and dominion over the occult arts. Mephistopheles agrees, but the price is Faustus’ own soul.
In this, their debut production, a cast of four actors from the Stamford-based company will bring Marlowe’s beautiful language and dark humour to life against the moody and magnificent backdrop of the Cathedral's Cloister.
Audiences are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and chairs, and dress for the weather; performances will continue in the event of rain.
The running time will be approximately an hour and a half, and there will be a short interval.
