Ivan Hovorun (Piano) - Tuesdays Till Two at St John's Church

About

Several seasons of “Tuesdays Till Two” lunchtime concerts take place each year. Concerts run from 1pm to about 1:45pm, and the church is usually open from noon for coffee, tea and light refreshments (usually a selection of home made cakes,  quiche, cheese scones and/or another savoury item). There is a suggested donation of £5 for each concert, but please feel free to give more or less as you are able.

Our second Tuesdays Till Two concert of our comeback season features our first new performer of the year, Ukrainian born pianist Ivan Hovorun, who will be playing a programme that includes one of Beethoven's most famous works, his "Moonlight Sonata". Mendelssohn, Chopin and Liszt also feature in a programme that is rich in poignant romance.

Admission is free, but we do ask those who can afford it to help support humanitarian relief in Ukraine by making a donation. The suggested donation is £5. All the donations will go to Ukraine, as St John's CIC has agreed to cover all the costs of this concert.

Due to the special circumstances of this concert, please aim to arrive by 12.45pm as there will be more prayers and announcements than usual before the concert, which will begin at 12.50pm

As ever St John's will be open for an hour before the concert begins, with volunteers running our pop-up café offering lots of home made sweet and savoury treats as well as hot and cold drinks.

Programme:

Ludwig van Beethoven - Sonata No 14 C sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2 "Moonlight"
Felix Mendelssohn - Variations sérieuses Op. 54,
Frederic Chopin - Nocturne in C sharp Minor,
Franz Liszt - Funerailles S.173
