The Tuesdays Till Two summer season continues with a duo concert featuring woodwind duo Hacha Duo, whose members are bass clarinettist Hannah Shilvock and oboist Catherine Underhill, who are both appearing at St John's for the first time.
As ever the church will be open for an hour before the concert begins, with volunteers from the pop-up café team offering lots of home made sweet and savoury treats as well as hot and cold drinks.
The concert will begin promptly at 1pm. Admission is free, but those who are able to afford it are asked to make a donation. The suggested amount is £5.

About Hacha Duo:
Hacha Duo is a contemporary woodwind duo, performing a variety of classical and contemporary repertoire for the clarinet and oboe and their auxiliary instruments. It regularly commissions new music for its performances across the UK and has performed a number of world and UK premières of repertoire by composers including Alastair Penman, Daniel Dorff and George Shrapnell. The duo met as scholars at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2018 and have performed together at the Old Royal Naval College Chapel and Southwark Cathedral. In 2020, they released their first album 'Parts and Poems of the Body' which is available on all online platforms. Hacha Duo strives to be a leading ensemble for celebrating new music for woodwind instruments and will continue to focus on commissioning new work, particularly by female composers.
Catherine Underhill:
Catherine Underhill is a British oboist and cor anglais player.
She completed her masters in Oboe Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music Dance as a Helen Roll Trust and Trinity Laban Scholar. During her studies, she reached the semi-final of the soloists competition and played with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra on their mentorship scheme. In 2021, Catherine performed in the orchestra of the Berlin Opera Academy. She is a member of Hacha Duo and the Hartley Duo. Catherine is a woodwind doubler and is co-director of CollecTve31, UK Contemporary Music and Arts.
Hannah Shilvock:
Hannah is a BG France and RATstands artist based in Brighton. Hannah's aim is to pioneer the bass clarinet as a solo instrument, showcasing how beautiful and versatile the instrument can be. She completed a Masters in Bass Clarinet Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with distinction, where she was a scholar for the two years and was awarded the Wilfred Hambleton Chamber Music Prize. In 2019, Hannah was a finalist in the first ever Silverstein Global Clarinet Contest, and has been named one of their ‘artists of the next generation’. Hannah was a semi-finalist in the Trinity Laban Soloists competiton with Michele Mangani’s Bass Clarinet concerto in 2020 and has recently published her arrangement of Debussy’s Cello Sonata arr. for bass clarinet and piano, with Alea Publishing.
