Back by popular demand, Jumped Up Theatre are restarting their Body and Soul dance fitness classes at the Key Theatre in November.
Over the past 18 months, Jumped Up have been exploring how the Northern Soul scene was very important to young people in Peterborough in the 1970s, and is still bringing people together, to share a love of music and dance.
The result has been thousands of people listening to the interviews with “Soulies” who had stories to tell about the 1970’s, and to the radio drama series it inspired, which was recorded at Peterborough College and broadcast on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire - all of which are still available on the Jumped Up Theatre website
Another popular element of the project was the weekly Body & Soul classes led by local dance and fitness instructor, Chloe Wilmot from Chloe’s Dance Company. These fun filled classes had to go online during lockdowns but they are coming back to The Key on Thursday 4 November.
Body and Soul classes will get you moving to the best Northern Soul floor-fillers. These fun and sociable sessions improve flexibility and fitness, will raise your heart rate and general mood.
Sessions will be every Thursday for one hour with a 10:15am start at Key Theatre Embankment Rd, Peterborough PE1 1EF. Pre-booking advised as capacity is limited to allow for physical space between participants. For more info go to https://jumpeduptheatre.com/northern-soul Cost: £5 per session.
If you would like to hear more information about the project, listen to the interviews and the radio play or watch One to One Development Trust’s documentary about the project head over to www.jumpeduptheatre.com.
