Marion is the daughter of Jewish refugees who fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s. She has a social science and social work background and is also a fine art documentary photographer focusing on the themes of remembrance and memory.
Using her exhibition and book Absence and Loss: Holocaust Memorials in Berlin as a basis, her illustrated talk will be based on her quest to understand further her family's centuries-old German heritage, the decimation of European Jewry and how Germans of today are confronting and dealing with the consequences of their past. In particular she will look at the concept of memorialisation, using her hand printed photos taken of the various Holocaust memorials in Berlin.
Marion's published work also includes, together with poet Jane Liddell-King, Faces in the Void: Czech Survivors of the Holocaust and the collaborative work; Dispersal: Picturing Urban Change in East London ary published by Historic England. Marion's documentary exhibitions have been shown extensively in Britain and abroad. Refreshments served.
