Viridor Waste Management Ltd, Fourth Drove, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE1 5UR
Viridor is pleased to invite you to visit our energy recovery facility (ERF) at Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. Peterborough, diverts non-recyclable waste from landfill, generating energy and creating resources for use in construction
Discover how Peterborough Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) can transform non-recyclable waste into enough energy to power up to 15% of the homes in Peterborough. You are invited to join us on a tour of our facility and find out what happens to your non-recyclable waste after you put it in the bin.
Across the UK, Viridor operates a fleet of 11 ERFs that process non-recyclable waste, generating energy and creating resources for use in construction. Peterborough ERF plays an important role making the City of Peterborough more sustainable, diverting at least 95% of household waste away from landfill.
Peterborough ERF was built as part of a long-term contract with Peterborough City Council to treat non-recyclable waste from Peterborough homes. It can process 85,000 tonnes per year of non-recyclable waste, provides electricity to the Grid, and residues from the process are recycled and used for materials in the construction industry.
Viridor has announced a commitment to reach net zero carbon by 2040 and to be net negative by 2045. We retain our focus on the goals of the Waste Hierarchy, to reduce, reuse, recycle. Viridor is making significant investments in UK plastics recycling and reprocessing, and supports efforts to drive increased reuse, recycling and reprocessing. Join us and discover how we can all play our part. By reducing waste and putting the right stuff in the right bin, we can make sure that only non-recyclable waste ends up at our facility.
