Come and see how volunteers over a 30 years period have, working alongside companies, groups and individuals transformed a derelict power station coal yard into a haven of wildlife with over 300 special of flora and fauna recorded in a recent survey.
Volunteers, with the help of many companies, groups and individuals, have transformed Railworld into an inner-city green space with ponds and waterfalls creating increased biodiversity and habitat for wildlife. Plus restored and repurposed Victorian aqueducts and bridges, model railway and ‘Globe Hall Earth Centre’ with a solar-powered ‘World’.
For the Open Heritage Days, they will also have a display of 'Old Peterborough's - Lots of Old Railway Scenes' ... Map and pictures and plans..(see a couple attached)

In best 'Circular Economy' (Peterborough City Council elected the Railworld Wildlife Haven as champions of reuse, repurpose and share!) tradition the volunteers have repurposed and reused so many ancient artefacts from Peterborough and our County of Cambridgeshire. For example, Victorian aqueducts from Abbots Ripton have been repurposed as footbridges in the haven, an Edwardian railway bridge from Sutton, near Castor is now a footbridge over a stream, plus much more!
There's lots to see - tours on Saturday 11th at 11:00, 12:30, 2:00 and 3:30. No booking required.
