See Peterborough Cathedral transformed by light in this spectacular sound and light presentation for all the family, created by Luxmuralis.

Entry to the show is by timed ticket. Entry is at half hour intervals between 5pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and 5pm and 9.30pm on Friday and Saturday. Select a time when you book.

About the show

The Beginning by Luxmuralis promises to be a stunning experience for all the family and the perfect start to the Christmas season. It is an art installation using projected light and sound, based around the Nativity story and timed to coincide with the start of the Advent season.

The audience first of all see a colourful light projection onto the outside of the Cathedral (about 15-20 minutes), accompanied by music composed by David Harper. Then they are ushered into the medieval building to experience an immersive light and sound installation inspired by the fragility and beauty of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. There is no fixed duration to the inside part of the show and the audience is invited to explore the Cathedral space in their own time, enjoying the spectacular effects of the light and sound on the architecture of the building.

Refreshments, including hot chocolate and mulled wine, will be on sale inside the Cathedral.

Please note that the show will go ahead whatever the weather, so please dress appropriately for the outdoor part of the show.

Inside the Cathedral, the space is kept as clear as possible so that the light show has maximum impact. A limited amount of seating will be available at the sides.
